Jeff’s fascinating and often breathtaking feature stories have appeared for more than twenty years in AirForces Monthly, AUTOWEEK Magazine, American Spa,Combat Aircraft Journal, DEFENSE NEWS, POPULAR MECHANICS, The Hook, Wings of Gold, SMOKE and SMOKESHOP Magazine.
Both online and in print, Jeff continues to take readers from gritty war zones and natural disasters across the planet to the seats of the world’s most extraordinary motor cars and combat aircraft. Jeff is a highly and skilled storyteller who began his professional writing career producing Naval aviation feature articles. During this time he joined an extremely rare club by becoming one of the few civilians in the world to complete the U.S. Navy’s grueling water survival training program for pilots and aircrew. The training enabled him to fly in front-line military combat jets and helicopters in the high-risk environment of Navy and Marine Corps aircraft carriers at sea. He is also one of the few civilians in the world who has completed carrier operations at sea on the USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN-71), including multiple catapult launches and arrested landings in the F/A-18D Hornet.
Jeff also possesses solo membership in another exclusive club: becoming the first and only person, either civilian or military, in the history of the B-2A Spirit stealth bomber program to both fly and film aboard the highly classified jet. In total, Jeff has flown more than 40 current and vintage military aircraft including the B-2A Spirit Stealth Bomber, B-52H Stratofortress, FA-18D Hornet, TAV-8B Harrier, F-16D Viper, AH-1W Cobra, and most recently the F-5F “Franken Tiger”.
While on assignment during the War in Afghanistan, Jeff had the “pleasure” of experiencing a particularly harrowing but exhilarating high-speed drive through the streets of Kabul with a former Navy SEAL. Upon returning home, Jeff took his newfound adrenaline rush to the Skip Barber Formula Racing School and added supercar feature writing to his portfolio. Since then, he has attended global launches of the world’s great automobiles. He was also selected as one of only six U.S. journalists to drive a Lamborghini Gallardo LP570-4 SuperLeggera through Italy for a week as a part of Automobili Lamborghini’s 50th Anniversary Drive. He has driven more than 1000 different automobiles from Bugattis to Yugos and almost everything in-between.

With emergent nation-states joining terrorists to further complicate the global political and military landscape, Jeff is completing a year-long look in 2019 at the United States Strategic Command (USSTRATCOM) as a special contributor to the DEFENSE NEWS family of publications. DEFENSE NEWS is one of the largest and most respected independent organizations reporting on the business, technology and politics of defense. USSTRATCOM is the command responsible for all U.S. nuclear forces worldwide, and Jeff has been unprecedented, official access into the ultra-secret mission and platforms of the American defenders in the global command. In the first set of stories in the series, focused on the pilots, maintainers, and airmen supporting the B-2A “Spirit”, Jeff became the first person in the history of the stealth bomber program to officially fly, photograph, and film on the flight deck during his recent flight.
